I had in mind not to store the result of the training
session. Ie. some detection like "if base is readonly do not
save". In any case I think the exception thrown once the db
is read only should be cought.

Well, I admit that I do not question requests from a user as
I usually guess there's some reason.
Anyway, one usual usage of read only drives are exhibitions
and other public accessible terminals. Say, booting some
life system in a public environment eg. In these cases you
do not want to use an usb key simply as you'll end up with
two such keys for each one you plug in, and you'll also want
to explicitly disable storing of options. This is solved
elegantly by a cd drive which even does not give away its cd
freely as long as it is mounted. (Or a jumper is set on a
decent drive.)
