Probably it's easier to arrange with (an) undocked (FICS) window(s)? Anyway, I really like the tabs _within_ the FICS console. This is IMHO sensible usage of them :) > I am sure I could come up with more suggestions, but > that would be a very big improvement. > > I don't see any obvious way to achieve this. Couln't it just be a mle field like the console? I could imagine that colouring the background of each second line already is far enough to get a good layout. As I've a similar list in CC code, I found it helpful to mark the game currently "observed" by writing this line in bold face. I'd suggest to use a tab though instead of cluttering up the console instead of cluttering up the console. This seems a good improvement. I also think that "relayed games" should probably be a similar tab. I don't know how this tab-thing is working but probably one could add a suitable refresh call (tell realy listgames) to the tabs invocation, and the tab might only show once this command was triggered? Sorry, I lost my note about the tell relay listgames response. :( <argh!> As you asked for additional suggestions: - As FICS window is scalable (a good thing indeed) probably the offer graph could resize with this window? (I usually use a console of approximately 80 chars width, as FICS output assumes this.) - Maybe some caption/scales for the axes of the seek graph? I admit that I like the graph of eboard which uses some colour shades and thin lines to give an idea where a certain dot is located, though they should put the tick marks outside the graph. And also babas chess uses a pretty nice graph which is quite close to your current implementation. (http://www.babaschess.net/showss.asp?i=soughtgraph) - In the offers graph, could the game info probably come up in a tooltip? Just to get the background coloured and avoid overlapping of text and dots. Currently, if there're a lot of dots in a small area the text is sometimes hardly readable, and occasionally (all the time the text shows up to the right below the mouse pointer) the mouse pointer covers some of it. Alternatively, the games details could also show up in a certain area on the screen all the time regardless of the dots location one is pointing at. - Maybe a small caption for the meaning of the markers would be helpful. (I described them in the associated help, but I think especially a newbe would appreciate it right there.) - I think also a "who" tab might be a good thing as well to fascillitate chatting. - And while I'm at tabs (I really like this concept for this dialogue) probably the channels could be sorted into a tab each. And from the "ToDo" I might add that sending a bunch of userdefined lines after login would be a good thing. -- Kind regards, / War is Peace. | Freedom is Slavery.
