I don't know another database application than ChessAssistant which provides CQL 3.1. About porting to MaxOSX: firstly Scidb will be ported to Windoze, but not before the alpha version has been released. Because of some recent fixes in Tk library concerning MaxOSX it might be possible to port it also to Mac. But it takes some time until the alpha version will be released. > CQL is a nice play of words on the well known SQL (Structured Query > Language) and i like keeping it. But maybe renaming it will help > differentiate Gregor's implementation from the original ? The point is that Scidb's design will be quite different from current CQL 5.0, so I think that a different name like ChessQuery is required. It's a bit unluckily that the term CQL is already taken. And the term eCQL - used in my current documentation of ChessQuery - is not very satisfactory for me. > Maybe Gregor will port CQL to Scid vs PC one day ?? Porting ChessQuery to Scid vs PC would be a very costly task, because Scidb's implementation is based on Bitboards, and Scid vs PC don't has a Bitboard. But it is possible to convert between CQL 3.1 and ChessQuery, because CQL 3.1 is a subset of ChessQuery (concerning the functionality). And Lionel has announced to release a CQL port (based on 3.1?) in Scid vs PC.
