Indeed I don't know. It seemed to work out of the box last time I
tried. But now thinking about it, I don't see how the same generated C
file could possibly work for both python 2 and 3... maybe cython is
generating #ifdef preprocessor conditions whenever the python 2 C API
diverges from the python 3 C API?

We need to check.
