I've just managed to get scintilla into an endless loop (doesn't happen in scite though).
In my app I have a file opened with numourous instances of the word 'strategy' in it. I go to the top of the file and do a case insensitive search/replace of 'strategy' with 'optimisticStrategy'. Well you can guess what happens... Because the substituted word contains the searched for word scintilla keeps substituting the Strategy part that was put their by the previous replace - and this goes on ad infinitum. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
