Yep! You're right. It's my bad.

After doing each iteration of the replace I wasn't moving the start
point of the next range to the end of the text just replaced - it was
left at the beginning - so if the new text contained the text to
replace, text to text to text to text to text to text to text to text to
text to text to text to text to text to text to text to text to text to
text to text to text to text to text to text to text to text to text to
text to text to text to text to replace...
