Works fine for me with your either of your settings. By commenting that line out, you probably have the default setting font.monospace=font:Courier New,size:10 so the problem may depend on the size rather than the font. This looks a lot like the problems that occurred on Windows 9x where the coordinate system wrapped around at 32768 pixels which is about 4000 characters. Possibly you have a graphics driver with a 16 bit coordinate problem.
