I think the Mozilla Public Licence v1.1 [1] is a good choice. But... it is incompatible with the GPL and LGPL [2]: "The Mozilla Public License (MPL). This is a free software license which is not a strong copyleft; unlike the X11 license, it has some complex restrictions that make it incompatible with the GNU GPL. That is, a module covered by the GPL and a module covered by the MPL cannot legally be linked together. We urge you not to use the MPL for this reason. However, MPL 1.1 has a provision (section 13) that allows a program (or parts of it) to offer a choice of another license as well. If part of a program allows the GNU GPL as an alternate choice, or any other GPL-compatible license as an alternate choice, that part of the program has a GPL-compatible license." So it may be impossible to use musclecard in a GPL program. What I propose is what happened with Mozilla itself: use a dual licence [3]: "Why is Mozilla code being relicensed? Primarily to address concerns about whether the Mozilla licensing scheme is "compatible" with the GPL and LGPL. [...]" A code using the dual license MPL/GPL should be OK for you (you can use the MPL license to link with proprietary code) and also for me and others (I can use the GPL license to link with GPL only code). I don't think the triple license MPL/GPL/LGPL is usefull in our case since I don't know if Musclecard will be included in LGPL only libraries [4]: "Why didn't you use an MPL/GPL dual license, as originally announced? Because an MPL/GPL dual license would not allow developers to use Mozilla code in a library distributed under the LGPL. [...]" Comments on this proposal?
