Sorry for leaving you all in suspense last month, but it's finally official. Long Lines Internet has started up it's first Wireless portal. We have setup the Pierce Street Coffee Works (1920 Pierce) as the first of hopefully many places around town where you and your wireless card can do some work. Just walk in fire up your laptop and get online. This is a free service that we are offering. It's in beta right now to see if this would fly around town. I know we got pretty heavy into a wireless debate last month, I stirred up this topic to get some ideas of what people thought of the whole wireless network. Here is how we have it setup so far. Walk in, sit down and your assigned a DHCP address (192.168.x.x) and your free to browse and email. We have filtered alot of ports. This is to make sure we don't have people port scanning, telneting, ftping around. In a few weeks we'll have things like an AUP, and detailed instructions. If anyone wants to take it for a ride the! SSID is linksys at this time. We are trying to decide if we should set it to any or change it to something else. Not a whole lot for documentation right now, it's in the works. Let me know if you try it out and what problems you run into if any. It may be worth a field trip some Saturday.
