Well several thoughts enter what's left of my mind on this.
1. An old story I once heard about some one in Biblical time who was on the
outskirts of a city and asked what they would find in the next city by a
traveler. The man who was asked, asked the traveler what he had found in the
last city that he was in. He said that all he could find was deceit and
crime and unfriendly strangers. He was told to move on because that's all
he'd find here. Then another traveler asked the same. When asked what he
left the reply was that he had left a very friendly city that was full of
opportunities and really missed the friendly people. He was advised to enter
because he would find the same here.
2. I two looked for over two years and ended up pounding the floors put at
the mall to try to make a living but am down right glad that I have a job,
even though I can't attend the LUG meeting and am still am looking for a job
that I would like to do that will pay something more. Have some
qualifications to do some computer work and know some things about 'puter
but there are so many people that have so many certs and acronyms behind
there name that I am having a hard time even getting my foot in any door.
Haven't worked too much as IT anywhere and don't have a lot of experience
with that and don't look like I should be a puter nerd so obviously I am
lying about knowing about how computers work and being able to fix them as
I'm way too old for that.

Also the other thread that's running now. Agree that most of what was said
but also can see some of what the satellite industry and such has done that
I don't think is right. That lead to the music industry and others saying
that the content and stuff just trying to decode signals out of the air is
against the law. The feds have ruled that trying to unscramble a received
satellite signal is in violation of the espionage laws in this country
because the technology is so close to the stuff that out troops use for
secure radio communications when they fight that breaking the scrambled
signals that are being broadcast to everywhere would violate the security
system and there for cannot be done. Sort of like the DVD codac for Linux.
