Don't know enough about Perl but from my C/C++-Knowledge and Threads
under Windows I would have done it your approach: Threads share the
same global namespace for data therefore there dont' have to be any
copied or explicitly shared variable for each thread if they don't
change them.

If they do they must synchronize among each other or have to use local
variables, that's the case with $request if I understand it right.

Maybe I'm faking with some kind of super power? ;-) The Perl I use is
even compiled multi-threaded, I've read through your linked Bug and
perl --version states:

This is perl, v5.8.8 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
(with 50 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

It's the standard package at all, but just to be sure. Most of the
time I commit to Subversion repositories alone, maybe it's possible
that I'm just a lucker and "the one error" didn't show up here yet?

From my point of view I would have reached a situation with this where
I would free my mind and begin clearly from scratch: uninstall
everything, install the version of MySQL, Perl and so on I'm using, I
could send my conf-files and maybe seeing some configuration that
should work, without any changes to glue.conf regarding regular
expressions for the bug-keyword etc., gives a new approach.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
