Wow - my Burns Night was spent in Milton Keynes at a weekend workshop of Cape Breton/Scottish step-dancing. Music by the absolutely fab Karen Stevens and Amy Geddes on fiddle and Ann ? (damn forgotten) on piano. Dance tutors Frank McConnell and Mats Melin. So our Saturday night ceilidh was a real hoot.

Did you celebrate? I had a very interesting one, playing at a
traditional Burns Supper in Killiecrankie. A couple of pals and I were
singing Burns songs and instrumental sets on stage, joined by Martin
MacLeod (ex-Capercaillie), who also did a couple of solo spots.

There was also a piano accordionist who did a solo spot - I thought it
was excruciating (continental show-off tunes, the Dam Busters March,
etc all over-sweetened) although there's no doubt he was a skilled
musician. Just not my cup of tea.

It was a good evening. Any other musical tales?

We just did a few Burns songs on Friday night at our weekly session -
didn't feel like moving it! However, we did start them at 12.00 midnight,
just to be sure of being on the right day :-)
