I wrote a reply suggesting Chris Stout's "Hamnataing" but got beaten to it before I posted it.... Wouldn't most marches in swung 4/4 tempo work? "Gilderoy", for example? Or, also in the minor, "Fingal's Cave"? - you have a somewhat Martian set of that in one of your tunebooks, I much prefer the old Kerr's one. Or for a real bang-slam finish, "My Braw Highland Laddie" [Kerr's v1] (originally "Mor nighean a Ghiberlain" or however the heck you spell it, with a second part, but one does fine). I agree with Ted about "Calum's Road" going well with it. Another one I've used (for a whistle duet, with a harmony I have since lost) is the Irish set dance tune "The Hunt", slower than the usual Irish speed, which gives the set a sort of dreamy floating-off-into-the-ether feel. =================== <http://www.purr.demon.co.uk/jack/> =================== Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music & Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
