Groove (www.groove.net) is the latest in groupware from
the creator of Lotus Notes. Its features include

virtual shared spaces where you select tools that let you
interact in many different ways:
instant messaging threaded discussion
live voice free-form drawing
file sharing outlining
pictures video"
This has been under development for three years
supposedly, but no Linux client exists. I believe
it can run under Wine.
Using the UNIX methodology of combining small tools
to make bigger ones, I think a similar setup could
be put together under Linux. As far as the security
aspects are concerned, ssh provides a wealth of useful
features. The problems of accessing peer to peer using
dynamic IPs can be solved with the services of dyndns.org.
I'm not so clued up, though, when it comes to video links, etc.
What else would one need?
