I think I have found something called "newslog" where I can
use the basic php idea suggested by Colin. It's a perl cgi
script that throws up a basic editor and allows you enter
some text with html tags if you wish. This creates a text
file which can be included in a web page via SSI e.g. heres my php

echo "<html><body>";
echo "<pre>";
$newsfile="todays.news";
$readnews = fopen($newsfile,"r");
$news = fread ( $readnews, filesize($newsfile) );
fclose ($readnews);
echo "$news";
echo "</pre>";
echo "</body></html>";
This will be great until have a proper chance to decide what to
do with the intranet.
