I have already had the laptop replaced a few times but with no avail... I hopefully am going to start uni next year and I will be entitled to the Disabled Students Allownace Grant thnigy for new equipment so a new laptop will deffinatly be on the cards.
It is insured until the 13th of Feb Next Year.....i think there may be am accident involing it sooner than that though ;-) Cos it had been problem after problem with this laptop. But I suppose thats life I will try to install linux on the laptop sometime today / tomorrow and will keep yous informed on how I get on. This doesn't surprise me of Evesham. My guess (emph. on the guess bit) is something is wrong at a more fundamental level than just the hard-disk, such as the motherboard (or laptop equiv). I think you should have a word with Evesham and strongly suggest they replace your laptop with a completely new one. RE syncronisation, you may be able to sync your handheld under Linux, depending on it's type. Its native OS doesn't necessarily matter. Try searching "handheld-name linux" with Google. Dono about ICQ, MSN and graphical IDEs. I use gcc, emacs and make files like God intended, and they work great. Cheers, Paul.
