I think its been said before but the bottom line on webmin security 
is:

It's as secure as your root password

If you are confident about the unguessability of your root pwd then 
go ahead and use webmin, its a very handy tool. I'm sure the purists 
will point out arcane little things you cant do with it but then 
thats purists for you, they are probably spitting bullets at the very 
thought of anyone wanting to use a GUI for admin work.

My analogy on webmin is  

I can (and do ) use a Snap-On 17mm drop forged socket on the end of a 
Brttool torque wrench when it is absolutely necessary, but most 17mm 
nuts I can deal with quite adequately with a Bahco shifter thank you 
very much

How many hits do you get when you Google "Webmin security exploit" ?
