Rober,

My early experiments with nvidia drivers + quake2 would sometimes cause
that. It was a while ago though (1999) when, according to everything I
read, the drivers for the TNT2 didn't work. They did work, they were
just a wee bit flaky. I am sure things have improved since then.

I eventually decided I would reboot to windows to play at games.

I eventually pretty much stopped playing at games.
