It are only a handfull, right? And even on windows, you can just throw the 
DLLs in the same dir than the app, and bundle evrything up, so the user can:

* delete the app including all DLLs easily
* run the app, even SDL is not installed on his system or a different SDL 
version is installed

I think that is an advantage. Of course, every app replicating SDL DLLs on the 
system wastes space, and that is the disadvantage. That is always the same 
decision and you can't have it both ways.
