[EMAIL PROTECTED] has it right on the money. The Beatles sold out with
the first album they ever did and then spent the rest of their career
trying to gain respect from the rest of their peers. Sunny Day is a band
such that their music does not appeal to the public at large unless it was
shoved down their throats. I'm have no idea what the actual figures are
but I would bet that HIFTBSO has probably sold under 45,000 copies and has
little hope of going gold. With a deal at Virgin records the band will
probably get to make more money initially with advances and what not but I
hope that they do not get dropped after one album which seems to be
happening to a lot of bands in the last 3-4 years. We can blame Nirvana
for that. Actually don't blame Nirvana because its the big labels that
scooped up every up and coming "alternative" band in the 90's with the
hopes to score from the "next big thing". They are not willing to give
bands a chance to build up a decent following, and they way things are now
with only five huge conglomerate labels its becoming more cut-throat. I
just hope that sunny day doesn't compromise to their label and get a real
crappy producer for their next album that will put a nice gloss on
everything they record. Personally, I would like to see the boys record
with Brad Wood again.
