and you can't forget the religious intonations on "waffle" either.
the whole song is about jeremy ( or others ) wanting proof that God will not
abandon him. he sees "the magic glowing out of" various objects which are
symbols of God's glory. but at the same time he writes "show me your glory
wont go away."
all this leads me to believe that the writer of this song still
,around the time it was written, had doubts in God's truth. this also says
something about the writer of this song's personality. he was spoonfed
information when he was younger that he later found out to be false
(information that is). this caused him to not trust in things or people until
he had proof of their factuality.
