NetBeans 6 is a CPU hog even with a decent computer, I personally stay away
from it. (and honestly, I don't need an IDE)

I totally agree with Kevin, if you deploy on windows use windows (but you
might want to consider looking for a job somewhere else), otherwise stick to
Linux/Mac.
