If you are looking for a good read on this subject, you can't overlook
Hackers and Painters by Paul Graham (founder of YCombinator). It's a
great book on the importance of creativity and design in software
development. It also touches on the history of the major languages,
the power of dynamic languages, and interesting ideas about how we
might program 100 years from now. And really great advice on the
types of jobs you should be taking in your career.

The book was written a few years back (before Rails), and he mentions
Ruby briefly as a promising language. I'd be curious to hear what he'd
say now about Ruby in relation to Lisp now. After all, YCombinator is
the incubator for Heroku.

Good luck,
Peter
