CAPACITY PLANNING| SEARCH390 FEATURED TOPIC

DOES SMF PROVIDE INFORMATION FOR TRACKING UPTIME? | Advice: Mark
Zelden

I have been asked to set up service levels for some of the major
systems I support. I am to track system availability for z/OS, DB2,
and some other critical started tasks. I need to report availability
once a month, based on uptime as a percentage, e.g. 99.999%. Does SMF
provide any information for tracking system availability(uptime) for
stc, jobs, DB2 and other started tasks?

THE MISSING LINK | Century-old British census goes online

It's not exactly the latest information, but it's cool anyway. The
British Public Records Office has put the 1901 census for England and
Wales online. Some pretty legendary folks are among the 32 million
countees -- Charlie Chaplin, Florence Nightingale and J.R.R Tolkien
to name three. It also lists 90,000 citizens described at the time as
"lunatics, imbeciles and feeble-minded people" -- not the kind of
language you'd see these days! The site, at www.census.pro.gov.uk,
took two years to finish and should be a site to behold for
historians and genealogy buffs.
