CAN YOU PRE-COMPILE OS/VS COBOL PROGRAMS? | by Ken Davies

Dear Ask the Expert:
I saw an answer from you recently that CICS TS V2.3 would support
OS/VS COBOL via LE. Does this mean that these OS/VS COBOL programs
are capable of being pre-compiled? Or should there be an environment
outside of CICS TS v2.3 to compile these programs?

IBM BUILDS FASTEST COMMUNICATIONS MICROCHIPS | News: Reuters

IBM has built the world's fastest microchip, which will be used in
data communications equipment like switches and routers that are used
in optical communication networks. The integrated circuit runs at
more than 110 GigaHertz, or 110 billion cycles per second, meaning it
will be able to process more than 2.8 million pages of text per

WIRELESS NETWORKS ON CUSP OF EXPLOSIVE GROWTH | by Garry Kranz

A Gartner Dataquest survey predicted that 50% of U.S. businesses
would integrate some form of wireless networking technology into
their infrastructures by the end of 2002. But rapidly changing and
incompatible protocols may be hampering that rate of adoption. How
should you choose the right wireless technology for your business?
This question and others are answered in this Information Architect
tip.

THE MISSING LINK | Canterbury has a tale to tell online

The Internet really is going into a "tale" spin. The Brits are
dusting off the 600-year-old first edition of Chaucer's "Canterbury
Tales" and putting it online. How? With a key to the British Library
vaults and with unbelievably keen cameras. The 1,300 telltale
pictures those cameras take will end up online. Finally -- the Wife
of Bath, splashed across the Internet! Just make sure you have ye
olde English dictionary handy.
