WHY MOVE TO CICS TRANSACTION PRIORITY? | by Steve Samson

Dear Ask the Expert,
I disagree with your recent answer about "rogue" CICS transactions.
It is my belief that all transactions in CICS run at the priority of
the region. Just by specifying a high response time goal for a
transaction does not mean it will have less of a priority than any
other transactions running in the CICS region. All you are doing by
prioritizing CICS transactions is letting WLM know if the region is
happy or not. If it is happy, the priority remains steady or drops.
If it is not happy, the region priority is raised. This switching may
take time because of the transaction arrival rates. If you have a
bunch of low priority transactions running and the region's priority
drops, you may have some problems with high priority transactions if
they come in next. This is the main reason why I have not gone to
transaction priority.

Are there any gotchas if we direct all of our image copies to VSAM
instead of real tapes?

WHY IS CARRIAGE CONTROL LOST DURING FTP? | by Jim Keohane

Dear Ask the Expert,
I have a file that is being FTP'd from MVS to a Unix server, then to
another Unix server and finally to MVS again where it appears the
carriage control is lost. Any suggestions?
