PREVIEW IHS 2.0 | by Stephen Swoyer

Version 5.0 of WebSphere Application Server (WAS) is slated to ship
in only a few weeks and one of its most significant features will be
the version 2.0 upgrade of the IBM HTTP Server (IHS) that will ship
with it. IHS 2.0 is based on version 2.0.40 or 2.0.41 of the open
source Apache Web server, which is itself a major redesign of that
product. Find out why a lot of folks are anxious to get their hands
on the upgrade in this tip.

INSTALLING SEPARATE INSTANCES OF WAS 3.x AND IHS | by Stephen Swoyer

In WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 4.x, you can isolate WAS from
its IBM HTTP Server (IHS) component physically and facilitate
interoperability between the two server apps at the same time. But
it's another story in WAS 3.x environments. Read what steps to take
to accomplish this separation scheme in this tip.

HOW TO AUTHENTICATE USERS USING RACF IN CICS? | by Jim Keohane

Dear Ask the Expert,
How do I authenticate users using RACF for applications running in
CICS Web Support (CWS)? The IBM sample programs either (1) invoke
HTTP Basic Authentication, which allows Internet Explorer users to
save their passwords, permitting unauthorized users to sign-on using
cached passwords, or (2) result in non-persistent verifications
requiring users to present credentials at every page change. We need
persistent verified user-id and no stored passwords.

WEB-INTEGRATION FORUM | Run multiple Web servers on one stack?

Search390.com user "mctimm" posted a response in the Web-integration
forum advising one user not to run multiple Web servers on a single
stack: "I can't see any way to run multiple Web servers on ONE stack,
unless you utilize scalable servers or have them listening on
different ports. Think about it, which one would handle the request
otherwise?"
