CA OPENS ITS DOOR TO WEB SERVICES | News: SearchWebServices.com

Computer Associates isn't trying to be all things to all people when
it comes to Web services, but it does believe it has an edge in
making Web services "accessible to humans" with portals and
legacy-to-Web development tools. One of CA's top strategists says
that Web services have potential despite the need for additional
standards and that more companies must be willing to let Java and
.NET work together.

CAN YOU HELP CONVERT CICS TCP/IP APPS TO Z/OS? | Discussion forum

Search390.com user "GaryJones" posted the following in the Operating
Systems forum and needs your help: "We're migrating from VSE/ESA to
z/OS and have several CICS TCP/IP socket applications that need to be
converted. I'd prefer to use the EZASMI macro API since it supports
ECBs for asynchronous processing. However, the CICS socket manual
only mentions the EZASOKET call interface. Can EZASMI only be used in
batch applications?"

Think you can help? If so, please share your thoughts and
suggestions:

NETWORKING AND COMMUNICATIONS | Search390.com Best Web Links

We would say that networking is one of the most complex parts of
mainframe computer operations. That's why we've assembled this Best
Web Links section. Check the collection of resources under "Network
Management" for developing an enterprise-wide network. Or, select
"SNA" or "TCP/IP" to find detailed information on those common
network architectures.

THE MISSING LINK | When the hackers become the hacked -- it hurts

Here's a story with a moral: Avoid hacking someone who has an ax in
the house. A guy in Scotland linked a pair of PCs for two brothers so
they could communicate. But one of the brothers became convinced that
the guy had hacked into their little fraternal network and invited
him over to grind his ax -- into the back of the alleged hacker's
head! The hatchet man, in his own defense, said that he did attack
the victim but with the handle, not the more dangerous end of the
tool. That was thoughtful at least! The victim is going to be OK. The
defendant still has some psychiatric tests to take before he learns
his fate. Someone needs to tell him that axes are bad; firewalls are
good.
