THE MISSING LINK | Surfing for news a popular killer of time

Wanna kill some time without getting into trouble? Click on some
news sites. The chances are pretty good you won't get called on the
office carpet. A new survey of workplace Net surfing habits shows
that most employers don't get too worked up if their cubicle-
dwelling underlings use the office Internet connection to bone up
on current events. Understandably, only 2% of the survey
respondents said that the boss allowed them to visit porn or
gambling sites on company time. News sites actually beat out porn,
gambling and shopping sites as the most popular places to click,
with 23% of respondents saying they're actually addicted to news
surfing.
