Thank you Patrick, I suppose that my asking actually accentuates the
differences and may not been tactful!

Evelyn, do you have referencing to the lists of the buried in the cemetery’s in
Donaghmore? And what date did the newer cemetery’s start?

I found the fact that graveyards were interdenominational surprising given
Ireland`s history. Since I have not heard of many earthquakes in Ireland, I
guess the dead have found much in common and little to upset their rest. It is
unfortunate that the living cannot emulate the dead and have a need to place
emphasis on their differences.

Teresa,

I have been to this cemetery and found no likely Presbyterian graves. I even
asked at the church across the road and was greeted with surprise that I would
be looking there for such things.

I did find a Protestant church further down the road with cemetery but did not
find any help there either. Church locked and no reply to phone call.

I too am researching Shaws that lived Donaghmore. John Shaw b 1732

Married Sarah McIver 1751. I have photo of board in front of church I believe
in my 1000s of yet unsorted photos, if you are interested.

Oh very interesting, thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I see some
names on there I should research then :) I've been trying to find Presbyterian
Donaghey's and Shaw's in graveyard records, with little success so far, but
these things take time. It's also difficult when there are several children
with the same name ( as I'm sure everyone on this site is familiar with )
Thank you for the information. Have a great day

The old graveyard was interdenominational, so all faiths buried there. The two
newer graveyards in Donaghmore are Catholic and Church of Ireland.

Hi Teresa,

I am an O'Donoghue from NZ with Donaghy relatives from Ireland.

I would love to compare gedmatch numbers. I haven't been able to find the
birth/Bap of my Alexander but we think his father was William and farmed at
Killycurragh near Cookstown, Tyrone. My number is A350197.

Kind regards

2018-04-17 Thread Teresa
Hello Della,
It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I thank you and Evelyn for your
information. I am related to Isabella Shaw 1824-1884 who married James Donaghey
in Donagheady. From what I can tell my family I can confirm is all from Tyboe.
Isabella's father was Samuel, and she did have a brother John and William. I
always like to keep an eye out for those Surnames in other areas of Ireland. I
was reached out to by a lady who's family I've never heard of, connected to me
by GED Match. Her family is from central Ireland, which I found interesting.
Someone must have moved around. I haven't been able to find any graveyards for
my family in Tyboe and James and Isabella had a lot of kids. Some who moved to
Canada and some elsewhere. I am still new to my search. Have been doing it for
about a year and I learn new things everyday.
Thank you both for your kind assistance. I think the best thing I have ever
done, was sign up for this mailing list! . Have a lovely day.

There are a few Presbyterian graves there from the very early period.
Presbyterians later buried in Carland, Castlecaulfield and Pomeroy graveyards.
