[Bug 303470] Re: Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel)
I also got this problem (internal mic doesn't work) with my soundcard. As I do not have an external mic, I don't know if that works. Info: - Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid, all repositories enabled - laptop: Asus A8Jc H023H - Soundcard: cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec Codec: Analog Devices AD1986A Codec: Motorola Si3054 lspci|grep Audio 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) - Both with PulseAudio and Alsa - Adding 'options snd-hda-intel fix_position=1 model=3stack' to /etc/modprobes.d/alsa-base enabled mic, but all output didn't work - I use the Sound Recorder (Applications Sound Video Sound Recorder) to see if the mic works - I use the 'Test' sound from System Preferences Sound Hopefully, this bug can be fixed! -- Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for ekiga. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 303470] Re: Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel)
After updating to the latest stable Alsa, nothing changed After updating to the latest Also snapshot, a new input on my sound card was detected (Internal Mic), but PulseAudio didn't captured any sounds. After killing PulseAudio and reloading Alsa, I could using the microphone again. I did this by: sudo killall pulseaudio sudo alsa force-reload -- Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for ekiga. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 303470] Re: Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel)
I finally did get the microphone to work in my Asus A8F by installing the current development snapshot of alsa (post 1.0.18a thing - the current stable 1.0.18a version did not do the trick). To install the current (2008-01-08) snapshot I used a script posted in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=962695 I lost all sound once after the upgrade of alsa, but generally it seems to work ok. Good luck anyone trying it.
Same (perhaps) problem on Asus A8F with the same Analog Devices AD1986A chip. when run with the current kernel (Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-9-generic) there is no external mic option in kmix or alsamixer although there is one when run with an older kernel (2.6.24-21-generic). Neither internal nor external mic works in skype. It used to work in previous versions of ubuntu. I am running Kubuntu by the way. I am interested in seeing this bug resolved, so I could provide any tests needed to get more info about this problem. Just tell me. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

same (or very similar) problem Asus Z99H (Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) AD198x Analog) does not capture from mic (even when pulse server killed) when loaded with hardy kernel -- mic capture works ok... by the way, in volume controll applet mic recording is allways marked with small cross (white x in red background) if I raise the volume the cross dissappeares, but when I close and reopen it -- same x again. ** Also affects: baltix Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for ekiga. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 303470] Re: Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel)
I experience something similar, but playing music from Rhythmbox and recording via gnome-sound-recorder also produces only quiet white-noise. my soundsystem: Realtek ALC660 HD Audio; 5.1-Channel High Definition Audio Codec The microphone is integrated to my webcam: windows driver filename Chicony_webcam_61180.exe On 8.04, I managed to record but not listen, now on 8.10, it's vice versa q: In Skype, if I set Sound In -device to HDA Intel (plughw:Intel,0) no error message is given, but test call doesn't return my voice Skype uses pulseaudio (option pulse) for Sound Out and Ringing. In Ekiga's Configuration Druid, page 7/10: Audio Devices, I do Test Settings if audio input device is HDA Intel, nothing comes out if audio input device is Default, the quiet white-noise is registered on the graph but no audible voice comes out In Audacity, choosing the ALSA: HDA Intel: ALC660-VD Analog (hw:0,0) option produces different results depending which programs are running on the background (I suppose), but when it works, it produces the same white-noise. Amplifying it, I get louder white-noise, nothing of my test speech comes through. Hope my descriptions help solving the problem. -- Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for ekiga. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
