This functionality has already been written and will be in a future
release after 1.2.

no, FreeBSD ports/packages do not work with pfSense, you need to configure
each package to the system

Zied,

To answer your first questions sarcastically, yes, the red X in the upper
right hand corner. But really, no, I do not believe there is a logout
button from the web interface.

Secondly, when you install pfSense to hard disk / flash disk / etc and are
not running off of the bootable CD w/ floppy storage configuration, you have
an extra menu "packages" which lets you install squid, bandwidthd, snort and
a few other very nice tools.

Hope that helps.

Curtis

could you not install these from freebsd ports?

[pfSense-discussion] any plans to implement smtp spam filter/ clam av?

2007-09-19 Thread ryn jackson
just wanted to know if there were any plans to implement an smtp proxy package
that could do spam filtering and email greylisting/blacklisting. act as a
tarpit etc.

also possibly clamav as well?

[pfSense-discussion] ipsec tunnels should allow multiple subnet selectors

2007-09-19 Thread ryn jackson
just a thought. pfsense should be able to support multiple subnets/selectors in
an ipsec tunnel. after all these aren't linksys gateways.

i always use a different vlan/subnet for voip traffic and when i connect sites
together (either telecommuter or branch office) i usually set up a ipsec tunnel
that will handle all the subnets that need to talk to each other.
so rather than assuming that we only want to connect to one remote subnet at a
site and that that site only wants to see one of mine, i'd like to set them up
in one tunnel.
also, can traffic shaping work on traffic going through a tunnel? just wanted
to know if traffic shaping rules were applied before or after encryption.

also, any plans to implement ip compression in tunnels?

it uses basic authentication, so you have to close browser (FYI, it's a
long running bug/issue with firefox/mozilla to be able to forget the
password and thus logout). I guess somebody might like to rewrite it to
use cookies and thus have a logout function if they really cared?

it's freebsd based so you can use 'ports'. I installed munin from ports
and it works pretty well.

oops, I meant munin-node, the client, and hacked up a 'ping' plugin so I
can get an idea of latency from our firewall cluster to the outside world.

if you've not encountered munin, it's great!

Re: [pfSense-discussion] noob question

2007-09-19 Thread DarkFoon
There is no logout (AFAIK)
You can't install plain old 3rd party apps, you have you install a pfSense
package. Only some software is available as pfSense packages, and many of
them are beta or alpha. But you can make your own packages, something I
haven't personally tried yet.
To browse the packages available, log in and go to System -> Packages.
To install the package you want, click the + button to the right of the
package listing.

I hope that helps.
