Sorry, I'm not porting Citrix. I managed to get the Linux/ARM Citrix
binary working on OS 2005. With the change to EABI for OS 2006/2007,
the same binary will no longer work.

The only options for Citrix are:

 * An open source client (I don't know of one, but I've not really looked)
 * Citrix open sourcing their old one
 * Citrix producing an ARMEL binary
 * Citrix producing a proper Maemo port
 * Some theoretical/impractical static code analysis/recompilation to
convert an ARM binary into an ARMEL binary. I'm fairly certain this is
impractical, even if it was possible.

Cheers,

Andrew

I'm using rdesktop for IT2006, works perfect, from maemo App Catalog.

You just need to enter user and password, and enble the accessibility
keyboard in windows. I thought it was useless before!

There was an rdesktop port for OS2005. If the sources were not lost, I
think it wouldn't be too hard to port it to newer OSes. A somewhat
harder job would be to make the virtual keyboard work, and maybe add a
toolbar like VNC Viewer has.

Jepp, i know and tried these app. Connection and representation are good.
But nobody to do the hard job!! And without virtual keyboard not to use.

Kevin,
I'm very interested in what you're doing because I use my 770 in
similar ways. I'm curious to know as well why you chose to go the
direction you did rather than contribute to an existing project? Since I
have no programming experience I am locked into whatever is out there. I
try to follow the developments of the software from various points to
try and make educated choices, and I'm astounded at the large number of
people working towards a common goal not working together? Please don't
take this as an insult in any way. I am as frustrated as you are in the
lack of complete apps available.

Best Regards,

You need to use dpkg from the command line, and for me it went in smooth.
download then in xterm.

dpkg -i busybox-XXX

It's good for all those things, but there are more people that listen to
music or use a calendar than that run multiple data centers ;). I use
mine for all of the above, and when asked what the device is I tell them
"it's like an ultralight laptop, among other things".

Miss it no more... there is a busybox replacement with ping integrated,
and an fping package listed on the wiki Application Catalog. Have you
tried them?

I'd say I use my 770 for (in no particular order) Web/RSS, Email,
MP3/Internet Radio the most. I usually, like now, ssh into my server with
osso-xterm for e-mail using pine or mutt, as wel as various other tasks.
The xterm has become way more usable since I got a mini keyboard.

I would most like to see a good contacts and calendar program with decent
syncing, as many on this list, as I think that is even more important for
a small laptop replacement. I have retired my palm because I see no
reason to carry it and my 770. If I did that, I might as well carry the
laptop.

Because I do not see these apps forthcoming, and I am tired of
maintaining in multiple applications/computers, I have begun the process
of moving all my info to text files. I started this with the
Lifehacker.com todo.txt idea[1] and have been trudging forward ever since.
I have a good part of my address book in abook, and have begun keeping
finances in Ledger[2]. I am using 30boxes for calendaring, but combined
with a couple scripts to facilitate command-line manipulation and
text-viewing.[3]

Along with the migration, I've begun using subversion for both file
redundancy nd replication across computers. I would love a subversion
client (command line okay) for maemo. Until then, I'll be setting up
rsync soon. Maybe I should have/ should still use unison. I'm not sure
though. Either way, though, it seems to me mixing the two could be
problematic. I guess we'll see.

To be on the safe side, I proceeded as follows with my N800 (which has
sssh installed):

1/ on my desktop Linux pc

mkdir -p /tmp/n
cd /tmp/n
wget
http://mummola.cs.tut.fi/n770/files/busybox_1.01-4.osso10-ipv6.etc1_armel.deb
ar x busybox_1.01-4.osso10-ipv6.etc1_armel.deb data.tar.gz
tar xfz data.tar.gz
mv ./bin/busybox ./bin/busybox2
scp ./bin/busybox2 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/bin/

2/ then on my N800 as root

cd /usr/bin
ln -s /bin/busybox2 ip
ln -s /bin/busybox2 nc
ln -s /bin/busybox2 ping
ln -s /bin/busybox2 ping6
ln -s /bin/busybox2 telnet
ln -s /bin/busybox2 traceroute

3/ Enjoy ping/ping6/telnet/traceroute and no risk to brick your N800 :).

I did that because I noticed the list of app is not identical compared
to the default busybox one:

- [[
+ depmod
- fuser
+ ip
+ nc
+ ping
+ ping6
- sysctl
+ telnet
+ traceroute
+ wget

Plus I believe busybox has options per apps.

I wish busybox developers would make a busybox-extraNN that doesn't
touch the existing system busybox. Okay you loose 300kB of flash but who cares
:).

I also wish nokia would include ping, telnet and traceroute by default :).

yes and filed a bug against it, for some reason if I install it I loose
graphics in the themes (files are there but I'got a white border to the left
and no graphics on keyboards popups etc. Not sure but it fights with either
fuse or pptp enabled kernel.

Re: [maemo-users] Usage

Why do you associate PDA w/necessarily having or not a PIM?

PDA (to me) means same thing as palmtop. I look at N800 as
PDA/palmtop...not UMPC/tablet.

My iPAQ 4700 "pda" can do everything the N800 can do and more (at this
point anyways). ssh, rdesktop, vnc, etc. I sure don't consider it a
laptop replacement though...neither do I the N800.

There are devices for your wrist (wach), for your hand (pocket pc, pda,
palmtop) and larger for your hand (umpc, tablet pc).

[maemo-users] Usage

All,

Just so I can see how my usage patterns and view of the 770/n800 mesh with
the community I'd be curious to know if I'm alone in the way I treat my noki.
It is to me a palmtop not a PDA. I use it to increase my mobility and
decrease my load, carrying it instead of a laptop.

To me my 770 is a laptop replacement. I'm in charge of multiple data
centers and it's a joy not having to lug a laptop out to dinner etc, in case
I get an emergency call.

However I get the feeling most here see it as either a PDA (like a palm) or
as a multimedia device (ala windows mobile or an iPhone). Forgive me, I'm
accustomed to thinking in use cases I guess. For me the #1 app is
osso-xterm and what I miss the most is ping.
