[Bug 456068] [NEW] Right-Click, MoveTo, Recent lists all folders not last ~20 filed to

2009-10-19 Thread EMenifee
Public bug reported:

Expected: RightClick on message->MoveTo->Recent should list only the
~10-20 most recently filed folder locations

Actual: RightClick on message->MoveTo->Recent lists a flat alphabetical
list of every folder in my IMAP hiearachy

On a fresh install of thunderbird(Imaped) on a fresh install of karmic,
when I right click a message, select Move To -> Recent, The list in
recent pops up my entire list of folders as a flat alphabatized list,
instead of just folders I have recently moved stuff to, which is
unmanageable. This leaves me having to either drag to the folder list
on the left with a some amount of scrolling or using the
MoveTo->Account->DrillDown to the folder which is much more time
consuming since most of my mail I file in about 8 folders that requires
scrolling on the folders list to reach or lots of subfolder drill
downs...I would like to see the Recent list move back to only listing a
limited number of actual recent folders.

[Bug 328089] Re: [Jaunty] splashy 0.3.13-3ubuntu1 fresh install conflicts with lsb-base

2009-10-19 Thread Helge Fredriksen
Would it be possible to resolve this until 9.10 release of Ubuntu? Would
be really nice. Is there any changes on the lsb-base-logging.sh pending
for the 9.10 release, or could the work be done directly on the 9.04
version of the file?

[Bug 455944] Re: Update to 2.28.1

2009-10-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gdm - 2.28.1-0ubuntu1

---
gdm (2.28.1-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * New upstream release (LP: #455944)
- GDM will now avoid calling XAddHosts for remote connections.
- Now GDM uses DeviceKit-power instead of gnome-power-manager for Suspend
  support.
- Now the at-spi-registryd-wrapper.desktop GDM autostart file will run
at-spi-registryd directly instead of calling at-spi-registryd-wrapper.
- Fix to the visibility check for the "Other" button which corrects some
situations where the button would not appear when it was supposed to.
- Now the GDM daemon will make the /var/log/gdm directory if it does not
  exist.
- Fixes to avoid autologin failure when a NULL username is passed in.
- Restore CTYPE when canonicalizing codesets.
- Several fixes to avoid warnings.
  * debian/patches/18_create_log_dir_when_required.patch:
  * debian/patches/21_dkpower.patch:
- Applied upstream
  * debian/patches/22_shutdown_menu.patch:
- Updated

[Bug 456067] [NEW] usplash stops before casper can ask to reboot

2009-10-19 Thread Mario Limonciello
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usplash

This is with a daily from 10-20.
After completing an installation, you choose reboot and usplash comes up, then
fades out. There is then a message asking you to press a key to reboot.
Normally this should be asked during usplash, and usplash fade out "after"
pressing the key.

[Bug 272659] Re: Gjiten could try to find kanjipad

2009-10-19 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
Attaching patch which sets /apps/gjiten/general/kanjipad to
/usr/bin/kanjipad on first run, since that's where the kanjipad package
puts it. Note that gjiten does let the user set a new path, so if they
have a non-repository kanjipad binary they can correct this. The point
is to make the user not have to set it on first run with a default
setup.

[Bug 456064] [NEW] vim-rails fails to install due to depending on vim-full, but vim-full no longer exists

2009-10-19 Thread Steve Beattie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vim-rails

$ sudo apt-get install vim-rails
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
vim-rails: Depends: vim-full but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
$ apt-cache policy vim-rails
vim-rails:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.3
  Version table:

vim-full got folded in to vim, so the dependency should probably follow.

[Bug 452149] Re: Humanity delete icon use the wrong concept

2009-10-19 Thread mac_v
I agree with the concerns raised in this bug report , also another valid
comment from a duplicate: that the present icon resembles the 'NO' sign.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/humanity-icon-theme/+bug/454013/comments/3

Franck , makes a very good point that the delete icon and using trash
can for delete , should signify a action which can be restored/reverted.

This new icon brings to light the wrong use of the icons in the apps ,
The apps should use the list-remove/gtk-remove/remove icon for such
irreversible actions. Rather than the delete icon.

Delete icon should be used for actions similar to the "move to trash".

The present delete icon warns of an irreversible action "No" / "beware"
as is commonly used in icon themes >
http://images.google.co.in/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=delete%20icon&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

But , we will not be making any more changes to the humanity-icon-
theme(Ubuntu) unless the suggestions are from the design team.

IMO , it would be better to leave it as-is for Karmic and weed out the
wrong icon usage by the apps. And consider any further icon change for
Lucid.

[Bug 454278] Re: audacity crashes on close, since audio callback is called after stream has closed

2009-10-19 Thread Rahul
There are two types of crashes.

The first one, due to monitoring, is not a crash in the apport sense.
Audacity reports a crash when started the next time.

The second one is rare and hard to reproduce. It has happened only twice
with me. It is a crash in the apport sense, the one I initially
reported. It happens (only sometimes) when I open an mp3 file with
Audacity, it automatically imports the mp3 file, then I click the
"close" button, it asks whether I want to save, and I click on "no".

In any case, I hope that karmic fixes the problem with kate that I was
trying to solve by compiling source with prevu.

[Bug 456057] [NEW] Brightness jitter, look like the brightness key event are constantly calling each other brightness-up, brightness-down ...

2009-10-19 Thread Steve Beaulac
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

When gnome-power-manager isn't running the brightness level is stable. I
just can't change it using the keyboard shortcut. I can change the
brightness level using this command.

sudo echo 8 > /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

I can also see the key event using xev when gnome-power-manager isn't
running.

when gnome-power-manager is running, the jitter will only start if I try to
change the brightness level.
This jitter can go on for hours, or sometime just minutes. (without killing
gnome-power-manager)

This happened on my MSI U120 laptop, my HPMini 110 doesn't require
gnome-power-manager to change the brightness (must be hardwired in the
system somehow) so I have no problem with that laptop.

[Bug 384062] Re: evince-thumbnailer with a 100% CPU usage

2009-10-19 Thread André Barmasse
Hi

It seems that the evince-thumbnailer cannot be disabled! In gconf-editor
I have checked the box under /desktop/gnome/thumbnailes/disable_all -
without any effect. Furthermore, I have uninstalled evince, but after
rebooting the evince-thumbnailer was still active and thumbnailing like
crazy. Isn't there really any way to stop the evince-thumbnailer?

Best wishes! André

[Bug 456046] [NEW] left & right arrow key, delete, page up & down key stop working

2009-10-19 Thread Martin Horseling
Public bug reported:

After the update from 8.10 to 9.04 everything was running fine, no
problems apart from an annoying but not critical issue with terminal
(could not fork pty). However, when the last kernel upgrade was done,
everything became slow (long boot time and hanging). Also, the arrows
and delete stopped working, with no good reason. As 9.10 is coming I
decided to do a clean re-install from the last down-loadable live CD
(October 15) and installed from scratch. So far so good, all keys
working and no visible issues except that closing the lid did not
activate suspend. Over the weekend though, I used suspend from the
button on the panel a few times and after that, the mentioned buttons
stopped working. It must be kernel related, as it only started after
the last upgrade.

Hardware = Compaq 6720s, US - RU keyboard.
in addition to the standard package Seamonkey (WYSIWYG), skype 2.0, thunderbird
and OOO3.1.1 are installed.

[Bug 454297] Re: drag and drop images or video into subfolder will prevent folder from loading

2009-10-19 Thread Dan Andreșan
Attaching a video showing the bug is one of the best ideas I saw recently.
With people speaking so many languages and maybe interpret differently what
someone is saying, the video on the other hand shows perfectly the bug.

Congratulations! Now let's hope that GNOME people will be quick to act
and fix it.
