I tried installing 18.04.3 on an Intel Compute Stick (x64 atom), which comes shipped with ubuntu 14.xx, with the same results. Since the hardware is a bit odd, I'm not sure how relevant the error is. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1841333/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1679898] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu VM crash during Hyper-V backup or live migration after installing kernel 4.4.0-72
I have had this exact problem with Ubuntu Server 16.04 thru 18.04 current on Citrix XenServer from version 7.1 thru 7.6 current. Either HVM or PV, it doesn't seem to matter. When I live-migrate a Ubuntu Server VM, it seems like i have a 1/6 chance of the machine freezing within about a minute of the migration being done. This migration roulette is awful when its the production database or NFS server. We've done a ton of XenServer updates thinking that would clear up the problem, but it seems that it isn't a XenServer problem. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of VM losing its mind." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1679898/+attachment/5284420/+files/crashing.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1679898 Title: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu VM crash during Hyper-V backup or live migration after installing kernel 4.4.0-72 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1679898/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1841330] Re: [HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-ba1xx, Realtek ALC295, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
Thanks for looking into this. The system comes pre-installed with Windows. The speaker works in Windows but I have not gotten it to work yet on Ubuntu yet. I played around with hdajackretask, snd-hda-intel model but nothing seemed to work. After I had posted this bug I was playing around with different solutions. It looks like I ran into something that made it work. I saw a post about booting into windows, shutting down the system completely and then booting into Linux. It looks like that did the trick. [Bug 1841324] Re: installing one app in 2 versions, Ubuntu and non-Ubuntu
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better In order for this to proceed, we need to know (1) your release of Ubuntu, architecture, (`apport-collect 1841324`) (2) your package version of ubuntu-software (apt-cache policy `ubuntu-software`) (3) how the other Chromium was installed. Was it flatpak?, snap?, appimage? compiled from source? etc Ubuntu-software only knows about a subset of the packages/meta-packages found in your listed apt sources, but has awareness of some snaps. Many popular package managers present all packages available but usually don't know about snaps. Neither though will know about appimages or flatpaks, and cannot know about software compiled from source. I am not a developer, but suspect what you want may not be possible, but we cannot know until more information is provided. If you provide the details, please respond in comment (or description) and return the status to 'New'. Likewise if you believe I'm in error, please respond in comment and change to 'New'. [Bug 1841324] [NEW] installing one app in 2 versions, Ubuntu and non-Ubuntu
Public bug reported: Two copies of the Chromium browser were on my Ubuntu laptop. (A recent update mentioned Chromium, so maybe that's when it happened.) They were the same version except that one was Ubuntu's and the other was not (75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) snap (64-bit)). I opened both but didn't see a difference except in the version string, but I didn't explore in depth. I checked the Ubuntu Software app and found only one listing for Chromium and it showed as having been installed. I decided to uninstall. There was no way visible to choose which Chromium would be uninstalled. The result was that the Ubuntu one uninstalled but the non-Ubuntu one stayed. The Ubuntu Software app then said that Chromium was not installed, although actually the non-Ubuntu version of Chromium was still present. The Ubuntu Software app has the same report even after a cold reboot. Since the Ubuntu Software app incorrectly says that Chromium is not installed, I installed it ("Version 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) Built on Ubuntu , running on Ubuntu 18.04 (64-bit)" (sic)). This gave me two icons for Chromium, so I uninstalled one, with the same result as above. No crash was apparent at any stage. I prefer that I be given a choice of which version to uninstall and that the Ubuntu Software app recognize that an app is currently installed. Thanks for filing the bug. A "quickfix" would involve getting into the installer shell, manually patching the curtin python source on the instance, and then re-running the install. [Bug 1841323] [NEW] mystery message during HDD unlocking
Public bug reported: On my Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS laptop, after a cold boot, after I enter the password for unlocking the boot hard drive, five dots change colors at a rate of about one dot per second. Based on that timing, about 90 seconds into the process (the dots changing colors takes about 99 seconds and the dots graphic in some form is up for about 110 seconds) a message appears on screen, saying something about using ctrl-c. The message is maybe two lines long and is displayed only for about a second. I don't know what it says. It wouldn't help to tell me what it says. I likely won't have that report with me when I boot, say, a few months from now. The package is as proposed by Launchpad and I'm not using that laptop now so I don't know the version. No crash was apparent. Please post the message for long enough for most people to read it and decide what to do. If it offers an action that can only be invoked during a brief period, please rephrase it to tell us what we will be able to do when that moment comes and then have it tell us when that moment has arrived. Also it has freezed like an hour ago but it throw me on login screen and in /var/crash was file modified approximately in same time and it was "122.crash" also whenever it throws at me window to send report I don't get secondary window to send report so it doesn't send reports. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1839777 Title: PC frezzes under NO heavy workload and gnome-shell.crash is created To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1839777/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1841318] [NEW] some crash rest to a "dash" on left, old system ???
Public bug reported: I have a dual boot system that somehow got corrupted on the ubuntu side. What causes it I do not have a clue. There are two very shaky, blurred screens. Pressing the firefox icon open up browser fine and all seems to work. The display is different from what I gotten use to, but it seems ok. If I close, I get the shaky, very annoying display. I wish I could give you more helpful info. I tried some stuff on the terminal that I got readying internet. I think I must have had another "display" stuffed on top of my original. I don't know how so I am just guessing. I did not have the "dash"??? on the left before. Now, I do. I am 78 years old and I choose Ubuntu because I like it. I do not do a lot of "programing" type of stuff. Ubutnu Mate is what I was using, I think. Hope there is something that helps you. Thank you so much for your help. Ubuntu is a good system.
