In Jammy Jellyfish (Thunderbird 91.5.0, GNOME Shell 40.5) when this bug occurs it also cause the Thunderbird window to not display at all. Based on your response this is probably not a bug, but is rather a result of things I had to do to build gdal with MrSID support for use in qgis. [Bug 1559889] [NEW] eject -i 1 no longer disables cd-rom physical button
Public bug reported: I believe this is related to a recent kernel update. My dvd-rom drive has a very sensitive button, so I have a cron job that runs 'eject -i 1' every minute so that the drive doesn't accidentally open if I bump it. [Bug 1509751] Re: Kernel disabling serial port ttyS0 again
e0f03e87fc6f27a8af9896f430f2945b3b1664c0 is the first bad commit commit e0f03e87fc6f27a8af9896f430f2945b3b1664c0 Author: Heiner KallweitDate: Wed Dec 16 07:33:22 2015 +0100 PNP: respect PNP_DRIVER_RES_DO_NOT_CHANGE when detaching I have a device (Nuvoton 6779D Super-IO IR RC with nuvoton-cir driver) which works after initial boot but not any longer if I unload and re-load the driver module. Digging into the issue I found that unloading the driver calls pnp_disable_dev although the driver has flag PNP_DRIVER_RES_DO_NOT_CHANGE set. IMHO this is not right. Let's have a look at the call chain when probing a device: pnp_device_probe 1. attaches the device 2. if it's not active and PNP_DRIVER_RES_DO_NOT_CHANGE is not set it gets activated 3. probes driver I think pnp_device_remove should do it in reverse order and also respect PNP_DRIVER_RES_DO_NOT_CHANGE. Therefore: 1. call drivers remove callback 2. if device is active and PNP_DRIVER_RES_DO_NOT_CHANGE is not set disable it 3. detach device The change works for me and sounds logical to me. However I don't know the pnp driver in detail so I might be wrong. Signed-off-by: Heiner Kallweit Signed-off-by: Rafael J. [Bug 1460313] Re: webcam indicator LED remains lit after resume from suspend
I have found the adjacent kernel versions and have begun the commit bisecting, however I have run into some problems. First, I have found the adjacent kernel versions to be v4.0-rc1 (good) and v3.19.8 (bad) and I did: git checkout v4.0-rc1 git bisect start git bisect good v3.19.8 however v.3.19.8 is not available so I reran the command with: git bisect good v.3.19-rc7 3.19-rc7 was the next previous version I could find, so I proceeded with: git bisect bad v4.13-rc5 and then built the kernel. After the kernel built I installed it and loaded it, however as a result, using that kernel my computer would not suspend simply by shutting the lid. I had to use 'sudo pm-suspend' which appeared to suspend the machine but I could not get the computer to wake up after that without a hard reboot. I then rebooted and reported the test results as 'git bisect good' and then started to build the kernel. The result of this build was the same as the first. I also reported that with 'git bisect good'. Currently I am building the kernel for the third time. Should I continue with this method of testing? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460313 Title: webcam indicator LED remains lit after resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1460313/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
