[Bug 1024522] [NEW] thunderbird cannot move over 1000 messages to another folder
Public bug reported: I'm trying to migrate from evolution to thunderbird in ubuntu 12.04 and i cannot place mi mail (15k messages) in the corresponding folders. Although i found almost impossible to migrate my mail given that evolution was the previous default email client and now is thunderbird, when trying to move those 15k mails into particular folders i loose feedback and it start copying mails at 1 or 2 mails per second as shown in the status bar. is this a bug? now iḿ trying to get mails copied but only ~200 mails each time... si i have 15k, you do the math how long i'll be regards, ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: thunderbird 13.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-23.36-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-23-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. [Bug 1023691] [NEW] [arrandale] False GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x01800002
Public bug reported: Connected my Lenovo T410s to a 1080p TV via its Displayport output, through a DP->HDMI dongle and to the TV's HDMI input. First I got a black screen on both the internal LCD and the TV; after a reboot both outputs lit up, and the TV worked at 1920x1080. However it looked like compiz/unity crashed at least once (sidebar disappeared and reappeared), and I'm getting a stream of reports from apport one after another about X. Not sure what data is attached to this bug, but it's probably a pretty reproducible problem... [Bug 1022433] [NEW] nautilus file copy progress bar is completely out of reality
Public bug reported: When copying a file, like a movie or something, nautilus shows the progress bar immediately almost complete and 0 secs of remaining time... and stays like that for the time that actually takes to copy the file in a pendrive, like a minute and also showing 42MB/sec copying speed that is out of the pendrive limits, that pendrive copy at 4.3MB/s, not 40MB/s. [Bug 1016859] Re: shotwell crashes on startup
So I added the following to the insert side of that Tombstone.vala:notify_contents_altered() function: if (file_map.has_key(tombstone.get_file())) debug("already have file for %s!", tombstone.get_name()); and now in the log I see L 6394 2012-06-28 01:57:38 [DBG] Tombstone.vala:32: already have file for /home/roland/Pictures/CanonT1i-images/2012/06/05/IMG_6016_CR2_shotwell.jpg! L 6394 2012-06-28 01:57:38 [DBG] Tombstone.vala:32: already have file for /home/roland/Pictures/CanonT1i-images/2012/02/14/IMG_3780_CR2_shotwell.jpg! etc... (where that first filename, ..._6016_CR2_shotwell.jpg, is the one it crashes removing). I think what happens is that two tombstones for the same filename get created, then both get removed, but the first removal clears the file_map entry and so the second removal hits the assertion. I don't understand the higher-level intention of this code well enough to know if the bug is in adding two entries with the same filename or in a too-strict assertion or what the right fix should be. It definitely seems like not a good situation if we still have a tombstone object without a corresponding entry in the file_map, so maybe the problem is in creating a second tombstone for the same file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016859 Title: shotwell crashes on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1016859/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I now see in the log: L 5389 2012-06-28 01:37:07 [DBG] Tombstone.vala:145: Resurrecting 10849 tombstones with no backing file L 5389 2012-06-28 01:37:08 [DBG] Tombstone.vala:39: is_removed == false for /home/roland/Pictures/CanonT1i-images/2012/06/05/IMG_6016_CR2_shotwell.jpg (the second line is my debug statement, and FWIW the file in question doesn't exist -- I deleted it when short on disk space) I'm attaching the gdb backtrace from my built-from-Ubuntu-source-but- not-stripped version.

[Bug 1008591] Re: xfce-session crashes using shortcut exo-open --launch WebBrowser
When digging more in the problem, i realized that after the downgrade of XFCE 4.10 to 4.8 the system also upgraded other 50MB of packages and after that asked to restart the computer. I did so, and the odd thing i remember is "i will have to install proprietary ATI drivers again". I use hardware 3D acceleration because i use MatLab and 3D plots. And after the downgrade and those updates, and after restarting the machine, ATI drivers were working and i did not have to install them again. but when i started to plot some 3D graphics, matlab hanged. So i realized that not only the "exo-open --launch WebBrowser" was not working, but MatLab was not giving me 3D plots. So i reinatalled ATI Drivers and Matlab worked again, and "exo-open --launch WebBrowser" worked too!! it was a ATI Driver problem. Tagging solved. [Bug 1008591] Re: xfce-session crashes using shortcut exo-open --launch WebBrowser
as a workaround i set the shortcut to simply "firefox" and not the exo-open link... Even after reseting the directories mentioned in post #3, hitting Super+W (the default shortcut to Firefox) the session crashes the same. So, may be is something that got misconfigured after the downgrade. I understand the danger of downgrading, but it appeared in many posts (some of those blogs, really popular) about doing this upgrade to XFCE 4.10 and at the end they wrote "if you want to go back" install ppa- purge and hit this 2 commands in terminal, that simple. If this is not that simple, i mean, if after doing this one gets an unstable behavior, that should be pointed out clearly. I wonder what else may resulted misconfigured. [Bug 1007061] [NEW] 12.04 kernel hangs during boot (loading sb_edac) on 4-socket Sandy Bridge
Public bug reported: I was lucky enough to get a 4-socket Sandy Bridge (Xeon E5-4600 series) box, but unfortunately the default install of 12.04 hangs during boot while loading the sb_edac module. This is due to a bug in drivers/edac/sb_edac.c, as of now not yet fixed in upstream. However I sent the small fix: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/5/31/371 I would suggest pulling this fix into the Ubuntu 3.2 tree as the consequences are pretty severe: the box won't boot after install without some manual monkeying to add a blacklist of the sb_edac module to the modprobe config. Sorry for the late reply. I do have indicator-multiload, so I think that might add to my issue. [Bug 877506] Re: numeric keypad does not work on acer aspire 7520G
Dear Gabor, I'm Roland from Hungary. The problem is ot with Linux, it's a problem in your device. I have almost the same model (7520, not 7520G) and mine doesn't recognize the numpad either. If I look into my bios it says that this machine is an 5520. This might be the problem on your computer as well. Although Acer hasn't provided us a working BIOS upgrade, I truly believe that our problem is because of the BIOS, which doesn't recognize our numpad properly. Hope I've helped just a little. [Bug 986430] [NEW] Enigmail does not detect PGP/MIME signatures inside MIME containers
Public bug reported: Enigmail 1.4 from lucid-proposed does not detect PGP/MIME signatures if the message itself is encapsulated in another MIME container, which is the case on mailman mailing lists (see attached sample mail). In this case, the OpenPGP pane in the message view (the one saying "Good signature from...") is not visible, but no error is shown either. With the older Enigmail 1.1 (from current lucid-updates), this detection worked well, and the OpenPGP pane with the validity of the signature was shown as expected. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Release:10.04 $ apt-cache policy enigmail enigmail: Installed: 2:1.4-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 Candidate: 2:1.4-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 Version table: 2:1.4-1 0 96 http://debian.tu-bs.de/debian/ wheezy/main Packages *** 2:1.4-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 0 990 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-proposed/universe Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2:1.1.2-1ubuntu1 0 99 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/universe Packages 98 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe Packages 2:1.1.2-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 0 990 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/universe Packages 990 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/universe Packages 2:1.0.1-5 0 97 http://debian.tu-bs.de/debian/ squeeze/main Packages 2:1.0.1-0ubuntu1 0 990 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages ** Affects: enigmail (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: regression -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986430 Title: Enigmail does not detect PGP/MIME signatures inside MIME containers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/enigmail/+bug/986430/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 59695] Re: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime
I gave to my wife a new Samsung N150 Plus Netbook last year. Last month the hard drive died but the warranty covered a new hard drive, so it was fine. Now with the new hard drive i was able to hear every 6 seconds that the heads are parking, and i tried many things and i cannot make it stop. Now i wonder the first hard drive (the one that died 1 months ago and my wife lost tons of data) died because of this bug. I know that this is an old bug now, but in this netbook is defenitly back and i tried adding this command in /etc/init.d sudo hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda even i tried to edit the laptop_mode.conf settings to do no power management in this hard drive and i had no luck, the packages had changed over the last versions of ubuntu and i do not know where to edit to disable this powr management. Now this hard drive has over 16000 load cycle counts and it keeps growing. Anyone has starting to experience this? how do i stop this power management in order to save this drive because the netbook warranty just expired this month? regards -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59695 Title: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/acpi-support/+bug/59695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
