It seems to be resolved by replacing the cups configuration with the default files. Then you need to log into the web administration system as a user with sufficient rights on the box. It seems to make updates you should probably use the user that has sudo and/or lpadmin rights. I researched virtio on ARM a couple of weeks ago, I did some Kconfig includes hackery and managed to build the modules, but I get an oops when the first virtio device is registered on the bus. For my network knowledge (I never managed to understand tap/tun) it's easy to understand (everyone knows what a switch is) and works stable and flawless. Just to clarify this, kvm vde2 is not officially supported in karmic? But I can just use another repo to add this? To clarify, assuming the status situation with upstarted init.d scripts is resolved, I don't see any major reason why the existing provider wouldn't continue to at least function well enough for users? The update-rc situation isn't ideal, which is why I suggested an initctl based provider, which really should be trivial to write given it already supports start, stop, status and list. I have a very strong feeling that upstream QEMU is going to first recommend that we test the virtio disk driver model (instead of the scsi emulation one). I also just ran IOmeter on the Windows guest again, against both IDE and SCSI emulation, against guest discs hosted on the mdraid5 with lvm, as well as a single SATA2 7500RPM disc. Identical results against both targets. 4096B blocks = 0.75MBps. 16KB blocks = 1.0MBps, 32KB blocks = 4MBps, >=64KB blocks = 4MBps. It currently kills the running daemon without warning. It "fails in the way that it creates a (virtual) machine that is useless because the hostname is invalid. I have the exact same problem in Karmic with the package 184-8ubuntu1. Removing the use_authok does the trick too. I confirm that using the cracklib module hide the problem. So is there a way to definitively fix this to avoid much problem during a security upgrade ? (just in case :).
