Hi, Rush says all you have to do is turn your phone off and it will reset. I tried it and it works. Interesting battery finding
Hi all. I have been noticing slightly different battery life with the new OS. I have not changed any settings from before my update. After the update, on a day with normal use, which is not very heavy, I might be down 20%. The other night, I plugged my phone into my computer and forgot to unplug it when I turned off the computer. OK, I just checked under Settings, General, usage. My usage shows 11 hours 13 minutes, and standby of 2 days and one hour. Now, to me that is very good. This is on the 5s from Consumer Cellular. Re: Interesting battery finding
According to all the experts, LI-Polymer batteries much prefer shallow charging. The absolute best for this type of battery is to run it through a 50% charge/discharge cycle. In electric hybrid cars, where they want the power bank to last at least six years, each individual battery cell is maintained between 30% and 80%, and the controller keeps track of the cycles so power usage is spread evenly amongst all the battery cells. Apple recommends discharging down to between the first and second battery warning, and then fully charging, once per month. This is primarily for resetting the power monitoring and control circuitry. In most cases, you want to disconnect from power when your battery gage reaches 100%. When it displays 100%, the battery is actually somewhere between 98% and 100%. Fully charging the battery until it states, on AC power, is actually not that great for the battery's long-term lifespan. That said, the battery charge circuitry automatically switches to trickle charge at approximately 90% to preserve long-term battery viability. Never take the battery below the second low battery warning. Taking the battery to a complete discharge state will damage the battery's internal cell structure, and will drastically shorten both the battery's long-term viability, and the battery's ability to maintain a charge per charge cycle. Also, if you do this regularly, it will be logged in the power circuitry, and will void the battery warrantee. If you wish to store and not use a LI-Polymer battery for more than a month, turn the device off with the battery at approximately 50%. Store the device in a cool, dry place. I have not had much battery drain issue on my 5s, but I always leave it charge a good while after it says 100'% on AC power. Now, my work iPhone 5, did seem to be draining faster, but then I found all these apps that were now using location services after the update. I've turned all those off except the GPS apps. So we shall see. I have been noticing slightly different battery life with the new OS. I have not changed any settings from before my update. After the update, on a day with normal use, which is not very heavy, I might be down 20%. The other night, I plugged my phone into my computer and forgot to unplug it when I turned off the computer. My USB charges when the computer is not on. I noticed it the next day before I rebooted and unplugged it. In the last three days I have lost about 7% per day with relatively the same usage. Now, I’m not saying that this is how you solve the problem. I have also had it plugged into the wall at times, but I have never left it connected that long after it finished charging. So, either something was downloaded to help this while it was connected to the wall, or it is because I left it in longer than normal. Or, it could be absolutely none of these. 7% a day is just about what I would normally get before the update. Go figure.
