Hello Colorado Birders:
Katie Triest, Joe Cullen and I enjoyed a chilly but beautiful morning
birding around Miramonte Reservoir in San Miguel County today.
Topping the list was a beautiful first winter Sabine's Gull. Lots of ducks
and grebes were on the water as well. Highlights included two Bar
Hi all,
This chilly morning of 11/18, a vocal redpoll flew over me while I was
birding the El Paso county section of Chico Basin Ranch, adding to other
reports of the species in the state and supporting the notion that this
winter could be a good one for the species. Other birds of note in the
I headed to NE Colorado today, birding the big reservoirs with John Vanderpoel.
Goose numbers were massive; we easily saw over 100,000 geese of five types
between those along I-76 in Morgan County and huge flocks at Jumbo, North
Sterling and Prewitt Reservoirs. Snow, Cackling, Ross's, Canada,

Hello, Birders.
Well, we're gonna do it. After last year's fiasco (leader was out of the
country, forgot to notify the sponsoring bird club), we're on, for sure,
this coming *Friday, Nov. 24.* Correct, Friday. Black Friday. Join us for
this annual festival of birderly mirth, beautiful Boulder C

Small gang in my neighborhood 2 miles west of Lagerman Res.
If I hadn't noticed that others (Todd D?) were seeing them in the Lgmt area I
would not have believed my eyes. Now I realize I've been hearing them for a
week, but assumed they were House Finches. I haven't actually noted them at

COBIRDERS,
There has been a good deal written on COBIRDS about Red-breasted
Nuthatches in the Metro area this year. There is interest, fascination, and
maybe some surprise at their presence? I have them practically daily at my

William,
I am an amateur but experienced birder, and I can mention a few factors
that seem to correlate with spatial patterns of stray birds.

Thank you! Looks like a terrific resource.
I'm also interested in further work that has examined or is examining
changes observed in Atlas II in relation to factors such as urban
development, natural resource exploitation, road building, pollution and
other aspects of habitat destruction.
Yesterday afternoon Nick Komar and I had a large flock of gulls feeding
along the NE edge of Horseshoe Lake. Most of them were Ring-bills, but 60+
Bonaparte's were there too. Most exciting was a first-cycle Glaucous-winged
Gull that Nick was able to photograph.
