Hi,
the previously added Breaks (against python-minimal and libpython-stdlib)
fixed many upgrade paths, but against unversioned 'python' there is only a
transitive conflict (due to unsatifiable strict versioned dependencies)

Quack,
Sorry for the late request, I entirely forgot. I also hoped it would not
be necessary in case 4.2 could work with a few patches but I just
finished packaging it and that's not working.
If not too late, here is the message I wish to convey:

I can confirm this bug.
I guess the dracut version is created during the build of the package
extracted from some git tags if avalable. Since I have to do source
only upload to Debian, the git information is missing and so
the version information is empty
# cat /usr/lib/dracut/dracut-version.sh

I have the same problem on two of my servers (both with similar
configuration, debian buster with backports), both with a btrfs raid-1

In my case, initramfs indeed fails to mount /root, but performing a
'btrfs device scan' followed by a manual mount to /root directly on the

Upping priority to serious as this is technically a violation of policy
that all software in main should be self-contained to main, and I
believe there is a general acceptance in Debian that such privacy
breaches are not acceptable (see also #726998).
