Yes, it is. etch was the first Debian distribution to support x86_64.

Vim is great for this but has a steep learning curve. Vim is also tuned for
touch typists, which eventually pushed me into learning touch typing, which

There are several editors that has syntax highlighting. When I'm stuckon non-Unix-like systems I usually turn to SciTE (Debian package:
scite).SciTE is a very nice code editor, highly customizable and it's available under different OSI've used Jext writing Matlab, LaTeX and php codes for my thesis,
