i have the same issues, but adding mount applet to the gnome-panel doesn't
help. The USB devices are recognised by hal, but aren't automounted, if i mount
it maualy with pmount-hal /dev/device or partition it mounts as it should.

I was able to reproduce the problem using the latest testing live CD.
The only actions I did after the desktop appeared were:
(1) change the resolution (shouldn't be relevant)
(2) changed the theme to glider
(3) moved the mouse pointer over a desktop menu item (System). The
item gets highlighted

care of soon; I know it's a pain in the tail, but...I'm thinking of
switching to PCLinuxOS because it seems not to have the same sound

Confirmed fixed for Gutsy (tribe 5)
to choose which volume channel the volume multimedia buttons change, you
have to go to system prefs sound, and at the bottom of the first tab
there is a box called 'default mixer tracks', choose the channel that
you want to control with the multimedia
Woopie, your patch works, but only if TBird is not running. Is it
possible to fix it so that it will create a new compose window even if
TBird is running? Thanks!
