If anybody would like junk film (mostly 16mm) in large quantities, please let
me know. Every so often we have a lot of material to give away — old
workprints, outtakes, tracks, leader, release prints, etc. This isn’t an
immediate offer because of the pandemic, but it’s ongoing.

Perhaps use the free MPEG Streamclip to make an SD version, then burn normally.
I've also had decent, if not stellar, results using iDVD and just sweeping my
HD file onto the disc map.

scanning is expensive, and bits are hard to preserve. I'd wind everything as
compactly as you can, minimizing number of cans and recording all
rearrangements, and try to keep it. Perhaps a relative somewhere has cool and
dry space?
