laptops. Upstream-kernel includes it since 2.6.27. So the ebuild is pretty
much obsolete, has an open QA bug I don't intent to fix any more and can

There's no point in deprecating anything.
I find it unnecessary to introduce additional complexity here and
adding obscurity algorithms like gost sounds really bizarre and
unnecessary. I'd recommend against introducing anything that
requires unusual dependencies.

On a server system (which uses as-needed), I encountered two packages (apr-
util and mysql-python) only linking against libmysqlclient_r.so.
So at least when mysql 5.1 gets stable, we should correct this.

FWIW blake2b is faster than md5. That was one of the design goals [1].

As far as I understand this from the thread by now, these are set by
default by Gentoo Sources. So we shouldn't really expect much breakage
if we set them via sysctl.
