bit of feedback for you. It seems that the *_link roads are missing.
By comparison, the version 7 files have these roads. For example,
motorway_link, primary_link, and trunk_link.

rss one would be sorted chronologically. Having a timestamp field in the
file listing could work though.
The advantage to having the RSS/Atom format is that people can plug it into
RSS/Atom/xml readers if they use any.
