This is partly why I don't believe in spam filtering. I've experimented with
many solutions, both server and client type things, but none of them satisfied
me as all of them involved making me miss legitimate mail. So for now at least

My isp has one that all of a sudden started filtering out stuff I wanted, and
now the problems I had with subscribing here were the fault of gmail.

That's one of the reasons why I'm glad I got my own mail servers and control
whether I want to use spam filters or any other modifications. Plus if things
somehow do get sent where they shouldn't do I got a lot more control over it.
