I had never paid attention to "System settings/Details". It turns out my
Intel graphical chipset is not reported either (but flawlessly works). I do
not think we should worry about that "unknown".
ThinkPenguin recommends this card (which admittedly is their product, but
they're libre-friendly I think in this case).

I believe when I had trouble during one of my installs (my first few were
awful messes), but as I learned my way around, what helped was this:
1) Install Trisquel using manual partitioning (for some reason I always feel
better doing it that way).
2) Once installed, reboot back into the Live

how did you get this working?
What do you mean when you say it doesn't work with Windows? I've only got 7
running in a Virtual Machine to test it, but I have no problem with my
Windows/Trisquel 6 dual boot.
Yea that website could be better, but i was just concerned about the Trisquel
issue.
Trisquel doesn't work with Windows (i still need it) and gnewsense is the
most up to date listed on fsf distro, which is working with my hardware.
I hope it will get fixed with Trisquel 7..., which also doesn

I do have it on a USB drive, made with Unetbootin. Same results when I try to
install it that way...
I also selected the "check CD for errors" feature. It all looked good.
?
There may be problems with your CD. Anyway, I suggest "burning" it to a flash
drive instead, using something like unetbootin (which can be searched for on
the web). Unetbootin supports non-free distros, though.
There's a version http://www.aligunduz.org/FUSBi/ that doesn't list non-free

I just tried to install Trisquel 6 again on the 2009 Toshiba laptop...at the
scanning the CD stage, I got the error message:
"An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD
failed."
I clicked okay.

I just installed Trisquel Mini on a 9 year old laptop (previously running
Windows XP). Everything went smoothly, except that I didn't get the GUI. When
I start the laptop, the attractive Trisquel desktop background appears, then
it turns into a terminal where I can login.

I already added a link here to that issue, so I guess there is no need to do
more here.
However if you find another, you can find a link titled Issues on the right
hand side menu and one the issues page a Create a new issue button.

I just cannot give assent to allowing open source code to be used for killing

And if that means imposing a restriction on its use then that's fine by me.
Where does that lead to? Why does it have to lead anywhere? Why can there not

Thanks for the kind welcome, freedom feels good ;-) I guessed that it is just
a bug - is there any better way to report it?

Trisquel 7 is not yet a release but a beta and bugs are to be expected. Guess
you just found one.
Update: I found out that it does work nicely with holding either shift or
ctrl and dragging the folder to its desired destination - both moving and
copying work well. So was it intended that the ctrl+c/v - solution is not in

Hi everybody,
I just switched from Mint to Trisquel 7 (for philosophical / societal reasons
actually) and am very happy with it so far! Great job! Anyway, I just tried
to copy a folder in nautilus (ctrl+c) and paste it to create a copy (ctrl+v)
- either I am missing some fancy new way of do
