I tested the kernel from comment 34 and my computer is no longer
crashing. With this kernel, it is possible to use default Xubuntu,
without changing Xorg session or xfwm4 vblank_mode.
What I noticed is that there are 1330 dmesg errors like:

Unfortunately the gamepad is still with the problem. The right stick
does not work properly, its up/down movement does the left/right action
and left/right movement do nothing.

The issue seems like it's really not xfce4-display-settings fault, but
xfce4-panel and xfdesktop that do not respect the monitor chosen as the
primary one.
Using Xubuntu 18.10, if I chose the Primary Monitor as the bottom
monitor the desktop icons are partially hidden under the panel and the
panel
I just tested this, and all videos I tested are being shown with the
correct proportions now. And Thunar was able to show thumbnails to all
videos unless WMV videos.
After install gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly the WMV videos had thumbnails
and worked properly, with their proportions right.

Thank you for the effort to backport this bug fix, I have tested the
proposed version 2.11.1(Debian 1:2.11+dfsg-1ubuntu7.5) and the crash
when changing resolution is no longer happening. Unfortunately, after
some time (about 10 minutes, much longer than without this fix), the

My problem is with the wireless card QCA9377. It has a 50% boot success
rate. One time it boots, the next time it fails. On my case, I'm able
