I see one major problem with upgrading to FANN 2.2.0. That is, most
language bindings haven't been updated for FANN 2.2.0 (see
http://leenissen.dk/fann/wp/language-bindings/). Things like PyFANN for
Python and AI-FANN for Perl would no longer be available, which would be
a huge downside.

1) Install an run Synaptic package manager (synaptic).
2) Using synaptic, enable the precise-backports repository (Settings
Repositories Updates). Then hit the Reload button.

HaoCS, you were right after all, but I had to do one extra step. In
CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm), I had to go to Preferences
Profile: and select the profile called unity.
I'm guessing that `unity --reset` resets that unity profile. But I was
using my own profile with custom settings.
Upon more investigation I found out that this was caused by a specific
extension I have enabled: Minimize On Start and Close 1.3.2
Disabling this extension solves the problem. I don't have this problem
in Ubuntu 10.10 where I use an up-to-date version of Thunderbird from
the Mozilla Team PPA.
Took me some time because I already removed Ubuntu 11.10 from my system.
So I just did a clean install of Ubuntu 11.10 again (reusing my existing
home partition) and the problem was still there.
Unfortunately, HaoCS' solution didn't work for me, though I only did

I first noticed the problem when I wanted to use Shutter to create a website
screenshot. Shutter returns the error:
JPEG parameter struct mismatch: library thinks size is 372, caller expects 356.
I then later found out that it was using gnome-web-photo to create the

I faced the same problem while trying to copy an audio CD on an updated
Ubuntu 10.10. After reading the comments, I installed the package
'cdrdao'. That actually solved the problem. Brasero has just
successfully created an image file of the CD.
I tried to reproduce the bug by removing the package

I only use local covers (ID3 tag and folder.jpg) and I always have the
function for fetching covers from internet disabled. So the problem
occurs for files that already have a cover locally (either in the ID3
tag or a separate folder.jpg in the same folder).

rhythmbox notifications don't show
This is getting really strange.. first I was testing to see if the issue
happens when Rhythmbox goes from track to track. The album covers showed up the
way the should. But then, after the first 5 tracks or so, covers disappeared
